Exchanging coins to paper bill in the Philippines.

If you remember 2016, you would think of different challenges that trended all through the year. One of the challenges was the 20-50 day pesos challenge where you have to save your money every week for a whole year. Early, in 2017, there were a lot of “success” stories that were featured in the news showing their savings up to P50,000. Definitely a great way to start the year!

That encouraged me and my brother to be more mindful of our money especially with our loose changes.

We did not set a specific amount to put on our coin bank, we just made sure to put all our loose coins and bills aside at the end of the week.

12 months later, we counted our money, I remembered putting a couple of 1000, 500, and 100 bills in whenever I received bonuses. My brother and and spent a whole afternoon counting and sorting our coins (we even the piso-piso in an ice candy plastic >.<) and small bills. Excluding the larger bills, these coins are roughly 5,600—if our counting was accurate. <lol>

Now, I’m off to the bank to deposit all these and buy a little treat and a gift for our mom.
